Art for the School and Beyond-
Students taking this class are presently learning about comics production as a service art. As part of this unit, students will become familiar with the history of comics, types of comics, and comics produced by famous comic artists. For this unit's project assignment, students will produce a comic strip for the Patriot Press school newspaper. At the end of this unit, students will be engaged in a class critique of unit projects created.

Intro to Digital Photography-
Students taking this class are presently learning about digital photography defined, similarities and differences between film vs. digital cameras, and types of digital cameras. As this unit progresses, students will learn about basic camera care, basic digital camera parts, and the auto-mode. For the project assignment for this unit, students will employ the auto-mode of a digital camera to capture images that have the elements and principles of art successfully incorporated into them. Before this unit ends, students will have an introduction to utilizing Photoshop as a digital darkroom for this course. Students will utilize unit Photoshop tools, options, and effects along with their prior knowledge of the Photoshop program to enhance the overall success of their photographic image. At the end of this unit, students will be engaged in a critique of the projects created for this unit assignment, as well as photographs produced by famous photographer Nicéphore Niépce.

Intro to Computer Design-
Students taking this class are presently learning about the history of computer art. As this unit
progresses, students will learn about contour line drawing as it relates to computer art. Also, they will be introduced to the Adobe Illustrator program and the unit tools and options. For the unit
project assignment, students will utilize Illustrator's tools/options to produce a contour line drawing of
various objects. At the end of this unit, students will be engaged in a critique of the projects created for this unit assignment, as well as early computer artworks produced by Ken Knowlton and Lillian Schwartz.

Intro to Graphic & Communication Design-
Students taking this class are presently learning about the role of a graphic designer, as well as
the history of graphic/communication design. As this unit progresses, students will learn about the
formal elements of graphic design. They will also begin to explore the Adobe Photoshop program and
the unit tools/options. For the unit project assignment, students will utilize Photoshop's tools/options to
produce a postcard design for a modern day purpose- personalized, business ad, or travel. At the end
of this unit, students will be engaged in a critique of the projects created for this unit assignment.

New Media Art-
Students taking this class are presently learning about the validity of 3D printing as an art form. As part of this unit, students will become familiar with the elements and principles of art as related to 3D printed art, history of lithophanes, methods for producing lithophanes, and colored pencil techniques. For this unit's project assignment, students will create a lithophane drawing artwork. At the end of this unit, students will be engaged in a critique of the projects created for this unit assignment.

Studio Art-
Students taking this class are presently reviewing art history through the ages at an intermediate level. Also, students are exploring various intermediate level drawing techniques. As this unit progresses, students will be assigned to produce an intermediate level observational drawing utilizing one’s personal style, as well as information, techniques, and skills covered during this unit related to intermediate drawing techniques covered. This unit will end with portfolio production and students utilizing their intermediate level critique skills to discuss the artworks generated for this unit's project assignment.

Art Portfolio-
Students taking this class are presently reviewing art history through the ages at an advanced level. This will include the study of various masterpieces created by famous artists from around the world. During this unit, students will also explore various advanced level drawing techniques. As this unit progresses, students will be assigned to produce an advanced level observational drawing utilizing one’s personal style, as well as information, techniques, and skills covered during this unit related to advanced drawing techniques covered. This unit will end with portfolio production and students utilizing their advanced level critique skills to discuss the artworks generated for this unit- (oral defense of work will be explored and advance level critique skills will be used to evaluate/analyze artworks produced).

Additional Information-
Throughout the school year, artwork is collected from these classes for the Sussex Teen Arts Festival, Youth Art Month Exhibit, Mind Carpenter literary magazine, Evening of the Arts, Lenape Valley's yearbook, and various art contests. It is my goal to have many of my students' artworks selected at this year's Sussex County Teen Arts Festival to go on to various other county art exhibits, as well as the State Teen Arts Festival.
Students in my art courses are required to utilize their Google Chromebooks/Classroom for a variety of course activities throughout this school year. For example, students in my art courses will utilize them in the future to complete art history and career exploration activities. Throughout the school year, students will also employ their Chromebooks for the purpose of making digital art portfolios in many of my classes.
